Welcome to the website of the Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church. Wheat Ridge UMC has been in mission and ministry since 1873 with a meaningful past, a vibrant presence and a commitment to the future. Wheat Ridge UMC is a welcoming congregation and extending an invitational to all who are looking for a Church home and fellowship where they can receive the gift of Jesus Christ and grow as a disciple in their faith journey.

I invite you to read our News and Views Newsletter. On Sunday, our worship services are at 9:00 AM with our Praise Service and at 10:00 our educational hour with a class or study group for all ages. EGR (Extra Grace Required)
This class meets at 10:00 AM in the library. Participants will enjoy lively discussions and fellowship centered around modern Christian readings.
WoW (Women of Wonder)
Welcomes all women and meets in members' homes for discussion and fellowship. Contact the church office for more information.
Wesley Class
This class is for adults of all ages and meets at 10:00 AM in the Wesley Room. Discussions revolve around various topics of contemporary interest. All are welcome to attend.
Homesteader Class (9:30 AM)
This class for adults and seniors meets in the parlor at 9:30 AM for hymn singing and a short Spiritual Uplift. These are followed by speakers and lively discussions of Biblical topics, current events, and local happenings.
Christ for Today
This new class is for parents, singles, and young adults. It meets at 10:00 AM in the Commons.
Youth Class:
This class is for all young people 13 to 18 years old and meets in the upstairs education wing room 202.
Children's Sunday School
Meets in the upstairs education wing for all kids pre-school to 13 years old.

Rev Aaron Gray


Rev. Aaron Gray Reverend Gray is a native of Denver, Colorado. A graduate of Regis College and the Iliff School Of Theology, Rev. Gray has been a United Methodist Pastor for twenty-five years and has served a variety of congregations from the plains of Colorado to inner city Denver.

A deep concern for community involvement, Rev. Gray has served on the Denver School Board and worked on issues around literacy and parent involvement in schools and well as supporting the role of teachers. Rev. Gray has been married to Lou An Gray since 1984. They have two sons, Ryan and Deshon. A passion for preaching, teaching, reading and walking; Rev. Gray is always available for listening, counseling and caring for the needs of others.

Steve Mallinson

Traditional Worship Music Leader

Steve Mallinson Steve Mallinson received his Bachelor of Music degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois and his Master of Music Degree from Northern Illinois University.   He has done additional graduate study at Northwestern University, The Vandercook College of Music and University of Washington in Seattle, among others.  He has studied choral and instrumental conducting with Maestro Daniel Barenbohm, Chicago Symphony, Dr. Paul Christiansen, St. Olaf College, and Howard Swann of Westminster Choir College.  Mr. Mallinson is the Associate Conductor of the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra and a founding member of the Timberline Brass Quintet.  His Church choir career began at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Mt. Zion, Illinois.  He came to Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church in 1972.

Mr. Mallinson's goal is to provide the best in choral literature for the choir and congregation and have fun and good Christian fellowship at the same time.  In the past the Chancel Choir at Wheat Ridge U.M.C. has performed many major choral works with a small orchestra including John Rutter's "Gloria" and "Requiem, Handel's "Messiah" and the Faure "Requiem." The Wheat Ridge Choir was invited to sing at  "Sacred Music on the Prairie" in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Steve has two living children, Kristin Lee and Stephen James, and a granddaughter, Sarah Danielle.  He and his wife Terry, reside in Arvada, CO. He likes playing golf, oil painting and being a grandfather to Sarah.

Helen Connolly


Helen Connolly Helen Connolly has been a church organist for 35 years and has played at WRUMC since 1991. She is a graduate of Boise State University and a member of the American Guild of Organists and the Organ Historical Society.

Caroline Mallory

Director of Bell Choir

Caroline Mallory Caroline Mallory is a life-long member of Wheat Ridge UMC. She graduated from the University of Colorado receiving a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music with an emphasis in Choral Literature and Conducting. She has been ringing handbells since 1983 and directing them since 1987. Caroline directs the Wheat Ridge UMC Jubilation Ringers and the Timberline Handbell Ensemble, Inc. She rings with the Rocky Mountain Ringers, Inc. Caroline is a member of the AGEHR, and has received the National AGEHR Level I Conductors recognition. She and members of the Wheat Ridge UMC Jubilation Ringers are actively involved in AGEHR guild activities and events on the local, state, area, national, and international level. Caroline retired from the Jefferson County Public Schools after serving 33 years as a music teacher in grades 1-12. Caroline also serves as the assistant church organist.

Kelley Shirley

< Kelley Shirley > I am a Colorado native. I was born in Fort Collins, the second of four girls, and I grew up in Denver. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in History, emphasis on the American West. I played soccer in high school, the first year they had a girl’s team in Denver, and during my college years, I was a member of the Metropolitan State College’s Women’s Soccer team, where we were fourth in the nation. I did my student teaching in Pueblo County, where my family has lived for the last 100 years. I have lived in Wheat Ridge for the past 17 years, and I have been a member of Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church for the past 14 years. I have one son, Dallas. In my spare time, I love to play soccer, read, swim, listen to music and hang out with my family.

Missi Erskine

Director of Children's Day Preschool

Missi Erskine I am the Director and classroom teacher of Children’s Day Preschool. Our Preschool is licensed by the state and offers a half-day program two or three days a week. Our program is a play-based curriculum and is a community outreach for the Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church. I have a 4-year Early Childhood degree along with Director certification.

Ariel Taylor

Lead Teacher of Children's Day Preschool

Ariel Taylor I am the Lead classroom teacher of Children’s Day Preschool. I have a 4 year degree and a masters in special education. I have 10 years of experience and moved to Colorado in 2015.

Lizzie Aitchison


Lizzie Aitchison Lizzie joined the staff in 2016 as the Treasurer for Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church. She lives in Brighton with her husband and their daughter. Lizzie has been a life long member of Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church.
